Sofia Papanikandrou was born in Thessaloniki, 1989. She graduated from SEAD- Salzburg Expiremental Academy of Dance (2012) and continued in SEAD’s postgraduate program as member of the company Bodhi Project (2012-13).


Since 2009 she has worked as performer next to choreographers and directors as Costas Kekis, Janna Vetten, Martin Nachbar, Marco Torrice and has choreographed pieces for theatres Ramba Zamba/ Berlin and National Theater of Northern Greece/ Thessaloniki.


In 2012, she was awarded a scholarship from TQW- Tanzquartier Wien, Vienna to develop furthermore her training and research skills.


Since 2014 she creates her own work that has been presented in Salzburg, Thessaloniki and Amorgos.


Being interested in the field of education, she teaches workshops and classes that are based on contemporary dance and improvisation techniques. The core of her practice is meeting people, exchanging information, shifting the attention to observe physical behavior and bringing them to dance.
